Welcome to our newest creation, well it might be better said an incarnation of one joined by our other favorite restaurant in town.

A little background for the first timers, and a refresher for you old timers. We opened Cypress Creek Sandwich Shop downtown on October 5, 1979 when the reported population of Wimberley was thought to be 2,500. The success of that little sandwich shop on Cypress Creek and the education of it’s owner by the locals was all it took to realize that Wimberley needed a consistently good restaurant with regular hours.

John Henry’s Restaurant & Club was the newest restaurant in town. Opened November 18, 1985 on the square overlooking Cypress Creek, John Henry’s Restaurant and It's principle owner, David Lewis, were set on a path for yet another education. This time the education lasted until the great flood of October 1998. There had been many bad floods before this one, but on that day, the water not only went over the bridge for the first time in 100 years, but also into the restaurant, flooding everything. John Henry’s was closed 4 days later. As sad as it was, there was one bright spot. We had purchased a Mexican food restaurant called Casa Blanca, which had been operating for 10 years. The Owners, Jose and Gloria, decided it was time to retire from the business, and on November 18, 1996, we began the 17 days of renovations.

Juan Enrique’s (John Henry’s in Spanish) opened December 6, 1996. Once again, we had opened a restaurant in the dead of winter. After 8 years of hard work, we feel we have captured the right mix of Spanish and Tex-Mex favorites. However, the locals have never stopped telling us how much they missed John Henry’s great selection of food.
So, with the name changed to reflect what everyone in town asked for, we are now on another journey.
